Care at Bethany
When care needs change, individuals and families want to know that the right support will be there when it’s needed.
Bethany provides publicly funded continuing care within welcoming, community-based care homes across Calgary and Southern Alberta. Residents are supported with dignity, compassion and professional care.
For the people who live in a Bethany community, this is home.
Life at Bethany
Care at Bethany supports the whole person — physically, emotionally, and spiritually — so that daily life continues with dignity and meaning. Care is about more than clinical support. It is about everyday life — shared meals, conversations, routines, celebrations, quiet moments, and connection.
Our Care Options
Bethany operates licensed continuing care homes across Calgary and Central Alberta. Within Alberta’s continuing care system, we provide:
Type A
(Long-Term Care)
Type A care supports individuals with complex medical needs who require 24-hour nursing and personal care. Residents receive around-the-clock clinical support delivered by interdisciplinary teams in a structured and supportive environment.
Type B
(Designated Supportive Living)
Type B care is designed for individuals who need assistance with daily living and some clinical support, but who do not require the full level of complex medical care provided in Type A. This level of care balances independence with professional support in a community setting.
Supportive Living Accomodation
(SLA)
Supportive Living Accomodations provide a community-based setting where individuals can maintain independence while having access to services that support their changing needs. Supports focus on safety, security, and personal well-being, along with services such as meals and accommodation in comfortable, shared living environments.
Home Care
Home Care provides health and personal support services that help people remain safe, well, and independent in their own home or private living setting, such as those in a seniors lodge or other supportive living accommodation. Services can be short-term or ongoing and may include support for caregivers, helping families continue to play an important role in care.
Specialized Care at Bethany
In addition to Types A and B care, Bethany offers specialized programs within some of our care homes:
- Complex Dementia Care – Evidence-based support for individuals living with mid-to-late stage dementia.
- Alternative Level of Care (ALC) – Transitional care in partnership with Alberta Health Services for individuals moving from hospital to their next care setting.
- Young Adult Program – Continuing care for adults under 65 requiring complex support.
Each program reflects our person-centred philosophy of caring and commitment to meaningful daily life.
How to Access Care
Placement into publicly funded Type A or Type B care homes is managed by Assisted Living Alberta. The process begins with an assessment through your local Continuing Care Access Centre. A continuing care Case Manager evaluates medical and functional needs and determines eligibility and appropriate placement.
If you are unsure where to begin, our team is available to help guide you through the process. Call us toll-free at 1-888-410-4679 or email info@bethanyseniors.com.
