Dear Bethany Families,

As a follow up to our letter dated March 23, 2020, we would like to inform you of the extra precautions Bethany Care Society (BCS) is taking in order to keep your loved ones safe and well during this challenging period. Resident safety remains our top priority, and currently, we have 0 confirmed cases of COVID-19 at any of our care centres. We continue working closely with our public health bodies and Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health to keep our residents safe and well.

Enhanced Cleaning and Social Distancing

In alignment with our colleagues at Alberta Health and the new continuing care directives, we are following strict enhanced cleaning protocols at our sites, and wherever possible, following social distancing best practices. Group activities are being kept to less than 5 residents, and social distancing is being practiced during these activities. During meal times, only 2 residents are permitted at each table.

Outbreak Communication

As mentioned, we currently have 0 confirmed cases of COVID-19 at any of our care centres. We will be notifying families if there is an outbreak at their loved ones site, COVID related or not, to keep families informed during this time. If there is an outbreak we closely follow our outbreak management protocols and policies; including isolation precautions for affected residents.

Our Employees

Our employees are subject to mandatory health screenings and temperature checks each and every time they enter or re-enter the care centres.

Technology

As our entry restrictions remains in place, and are likely to do so for the foreseeable future, we continue to encourage you to use alternative methods of communication to stay in contact with your relatives, such as telephone, FaceTime or Skype. We will be doing everything possible we can to accommodate this from a technology perspective.
