On May 1, 2025, Bethany Care Foundation officially launched The Next Chapter Capital Campaign, a $20 million effort to support the redevelopment of Bethany Calgary. The campaign was formally introduced at a launch event held at the Calgary Petroleum Club, where community leaders, long-time Bethany supporters, and partners gathered to mark this important milestone. The evening reflected the strong community commitment behind the project, including a generous leadership gift of $2.5M from Aramark.
The launch brought together Campaign Co-Chairs Janet Annesley and John Osler, along with Board members and executive leadership from both Bethany Care Society and Bethany Care Foundation. Their presence, alongside many long-standing supporters, underscored the shared belief in Bethany’s vision and the importance of investing in the future of continuing care in Calgary.
The new Bethany Calgary is a purpose-built continuing care home designed to meet Alberta’s most current standards while prioritizing dignity, connection, and quality of life. Opening in late 2027, it will include 420 private rooms with ensuite bathrooms, organized into 14-room households within a vertical small-home model. Welcoming shared spaces — including a bistro, courtyards, and enrichment areas — will support meaningful connection and daily living in an environment that feels like home.
Supported by a significant investment from the Government of Alberta, the redevelopment ensures Bethany Calgary can continue serving seniors and adults with complex needs in Calgary’s inner city for generations to come. Through The Next Chapter Capital Campaign, philanthropic support will help bring this vision fully to life — enhancing spaces, programs, and experiences that go beyond the basics of care. Building on more than 80 years of service, The Next Chapter is an invitation to the community to help shape how aging is experienced — with dignity, belonging, and purpose.
